When it comes to decorating for fall, I love creating a setup that feels festive for Halloween but can easily carry through to Thanksgiving with just a few simple swaps. This year, I put together a front door look that blends cozy fall vibes with just the right amount of spooky charm.
To start, I layered a large striped rug with a fun Halloween bat rug on top. This gives instant character to the space while grounding everything with some pattern. On each side of the door, I placed tall, thin white pots filled with artificial fall foliage—think warm golds, burnt oranges, and hints of deep red. To tie it all together, I added clusters of white pumpkins in varying sizes around the entryway. The white keeps things looking fresh and modern while still feeling seasonal.
I have to admit I bought the doormats. The striped one is really large, and the bat rug is small. Still like them, but proportion-wise doesn’t work. You can still recreate the same look, just learn from my mistake and pay attention to the size of the doormats.
For the wreath, I went with a layering technique I’ve been loving lately. First, I hung a natural corn wreath to bring in those earthy harvest vibes. Then, I added a black wreath with little bats right on top. It creates such a fun, dimensional look—perfect for Halloween without going over the top.
The best part? This setup is designed to transition with the season. When November rolls around, simply remove the bat rug and the black bat wreath. The striped rug, white pumpkins, fall foliage, and corn wreath all stay in place, instantly shifting your entryway into Thanksgiving-ready decor without needing to start from scratch.
It’s a simple, versatile way to get the most out of your fall decorating while keeping your porch festive for both Halloween and Thanksgiving.
