Norway Travel Essentials for Teens: Your Complete Packing List

Norway Travel Essentials for Teens: Your Complete Packing List. We’re not heading to Norway until 2025, so you might be wondering why I’m starting to think about packing now. There are a few reasons for this early planning. First, I’m hoping that having a plan in place will help me avoid impulse purchases. Our teen already has some key items, like a rain jacket, and several other pieces that are similar to what I’ve listed here. Second, by spreading out purchases over time—like hiking shoes—it makes it easier on the budget, and these items could even make great Christmas gifts! Plus, most of the links I’ve included will work for women’s sizes too.

Things to consider

Some things I’m considering when packing. I know Norway weather can go from cold to warm and cold again all in one day. I live in the midwest. Especially in Spring, I have a sense of what this might be like. So in my packing/outfit planning it consists of layering. We are not just going to Norway. We are stopping in Denmark. There will be larger city stops so keeping in mind that when packing as well. Lastly, each of us plan to bring a carry-on size suitcase and a backpack. Trying not overpack. Below is what I came up with.

Shoes

Trying to stick with three shoes but I think it is going to be hard for my daughter to leave her Crocs, so I will link them here. I think we wear hiking shoes on the plane to save space. Though I go back and forth on this because they are hard to get on and off. She will bring 3 pairs of shoes (tennis shoes, dress shoes, hiking boots). I bought the dress shoes for me and I love them. My daughter has some Rothys she will bring.

Outfit she can dress up

We will try to eat at our Airbnb to save money, but there will be some dinners. So, she can wear the dress and dress up the travel matching set (comfortable outfit). In order to dress up her matching set, I added this striped button-up shirt. Add this necklace to help dress the outfit up.

Layering Pieces

I also plan on my daughter wearing the sweatshirt on the plane (Sweatshirt) Her other layering pieces will be the rain jacket and the zip-up hoodie, which comes in a variety of colors. For a lightweight option, she can use her striped button-up shirt.

Pants

Four pairs of pants, most of them being quick to dry for rain and hiking leggings, quick dry pants, hiking pants, Athleta pants (These will sell out, but you can usually find something similar on the site or Amazon). Also, these types of pants pack well because they don’t take up that much space.

Shirts

For shirts, aim to have between four and five with at least one long-shelve. It’s great to have a fun t-shirt like the cactus/octopus shirt. Love these 2 pack t-shirts. This ripped t-shirt from Athleta looks amazing.

Other Items

Even though the temperatures aren’t high in Denmark or Norway, there are many opportunities to get in the water. To pack lightly one swimsuit will work, but we will likely pack two. I like this solid blue one. This swimsuit comes with a shirt cover. I’m not sure we are packing a towel but these are great. Our family’s favorite towels are these.

I would pack three bras, with one being a sports bra for hiking (medium support and high impact option). I would pack seven pairs of underwear. We are staying at an Airbnb, so we will be able to do laundry.

Conclusion

Packing for a trip to Norway may seem like a big task, but with a little planning ahead, you can make sure your teen has everything they need for an adventure of a lifetime. By focusing on versatile, quality items that will stand up to the elements, you’ll be ready for whatever the Norwegian landscape throws your way. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, exploring cities, or experiencing the local culture, this packing list will ensure your teen is comfortable, prepared, and stylish. Happy travels—and don’t forget to enjoy the journey!
