This year I really wanted to freshen up our outdoor spaces without spending a ton, and I’m so happy with how everything came together. I ended up finding two outdoor rugs I absolutely loved—one from Walmart that has the cutest little house pattern, and one from Aldi that was only $10 for a large size! Such a steal. I put the Aldi rug at the front door and layered it with a striped mat, and now I’m debating grabbing one more for the back door because it’s just that good.
Before Christmas fully arrives, I’m slowly finishing up decorating both our front door and our garage door entrances. I asked AI for some inspiration, and it really helped me visualize everything.
Front Door Decor
At the front door, I’m keeping things simple but festive. I hung a pretty wreath and added a set of bells to the door for that classic Christmas sound. Beside the entrance, I placed a pot with pine branches spilling out and added a small cedar tree in a basket for some height and texture. In front of the greenery, I tucked a lantern—it adds a warm glow at night and just feels cozy.
To tie in my color theme for this year, I added Dusty Blue Faux Silk Mums and a few pine branches, which soften everything and bring in that touch of winter blue I’m loving.
Garage Door Decor
For the garage, I kept it coordinated but not too matchy-matchy. On each side of the doormat, I placed two 3.5-foot faux cedar trees to flank the entrance and bring a little life to an otherwise plain spot. I added a simple green wreath with soft blue stems, which ties back to the blue accents at the front door.
I’m also thinking about adding a few blue stems to the small evergreens by the garage to bring the whole space together. Since the Walmart rug has those cute houses, it all feels charming and intentional without being overwhelming.
Finished Look
Overall, the mix of greenery, soft blues, layered rugs, and small touches like bells and lanterns made the space feel festive, cozy, and totally “us.” It’s proof that you don’t need to overspend to create a welcoming outdoor holiday look—just a few smart pieces, some texture, and a little color go a long way.
