Five Travel Destinations for 2025: Where to Go in Spring

With spring break coming I’ve been thinking of places to travel in the Spring. The top two are places that I have been to in the Spring time. DC was so beautiful at this time of year. It is a goal of mine to take the kids next Spring because when I went it was by myself. It was great to get out of the midwest and head to AZ for some sunshine. The last three are places I would like to go. I love planning travel.

Washington, DC

Why: Why visit during cherry blossom season? The blooming cherry trees are absolutely breathtaking, creating a picturesque scene that’s hard to beat. Plus, traveling in spring means fewer crowds compared to the busy summer months, making for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Direct flights are easy to find, and even with just four days, we were able to see and do everything we wanted—it was the perfect amount of time for a quick getaway!

Where to stay: We stayed by the airport and took an Uber to places, which wasn’t bad, but I would be interested next time, staying a little bit closer. I have Marriott points and like to earn them so this would be the top choice for me. Hotel, Hilton, Hyatt

Activities: I personally loved walking around and eating at Georgetown. I found this night-time guided tour national mall that looks great. Also go in the daytime and we just ate lunch a cafeteria there you can spend the whole day. I went to the Lincoln Memorial really early and ran it was also beautiful. We were there for my grandpas burial at Arlington, which was my first visit there. Here is a guided tour which would be interesting, though we did ours on our own. Last tour would be this one, you do a lot of walking so it would be nice to have this golf cart tour.

    Arizona (Sedona, Phoenix, Tuscon)

Why: If you’re craving warmth and sunshine, this is the place to be! Whether you choose Sedona, Phoenix, or Tucson—or even better, visit multiple spots during your trip—you’ll find something unique in each. You could even make a day trip to the Grand Canyon, which I’ve yet to experience myself but definitely plan to. In fact, I’m already dreaming of a trip where I fly into Phoenix, rent a car, stay in an Airbnb in Sedona, and take a scenic day trip to the Grand Canyon. It’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation!

Where to stay: Sedona Hotel 1, Hotel 2, Phoenix Hotel, Tuscon Hotel

Activities: Depending on your interests, Arizona offers a bunch of different activities from beginning hikes to more advanced ones.

Tuscon- Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (we have been multiple times), Mission San Xavier Del Bac, and many options for hikes and scenic drives. Guided self-tour of Mt. Lemmon. An e-bike tour looks like fun.

Phoenix- Grand Canyon tour, Hole in the Rock, Botanical Gardens

Sedona- Jeep tour, Slide Rock, Shopping, Trails

    Destin, FL

Why: If you’re after ocean views and sunshine, this is the spot! Destin is a popular destination for good reason, and though I haven’t been yet, it’s definitely on my travel list. I love planning vacations, so I’ve already mapped out a “what-if” trip there. With beautiful beaches and plenty of things to do, it’s the perfect place for a sunny getaway.

Where to stay: This is place affordable and has good reviews.

Activities: Tiki Huts on the ocean, Beaches, Boardwalk, Shopping

    Amsterdam, Netherlands

Why: Tulips are at the top of my list, and visiting during the bloom season has always been a bucket list trip for me. When it comes to traveling to Europe, I typically like to stay longer due to the long flight, but I’m starting to think I could make it a shorter trip—maybe around five days. For the longest time, I thought flying to Europe was out of reach. But after looking at flight prices, some are surprisingly comparable to flying within the U.S. Two summers ago, we spent quite a bit on flights to North Carolina, which has me rethinking how I plan my travels. I’m working on using my points more wisely, and you can read more about my point-saving strategies in this blog post here.

Accommodations: This hotel looks nice and has good reviews.

Things to do: I would love this cheese/boat tour. Day trip to see tulips. I would also like this Anne Frank tour.

    Costa Rica

Why: Nature- The natural beauty of Costa Rica is something I’ve heard so much about, and it’s definitely caught my attention. A friend of mine actually mentioned she prefers it over Hawaii, which is saying a lot since I’ve been to Hawaii multiple times and absolutely love it. From lush rainforests to stunning beaches, Costa Rica offers a unique, untouched beauty that makes it feel like a must-see destination.

Accommodations: This place looks really nice and has good ratings you would need to research the area. The other place is beachfront, which looks amazing as well.

Things to do: Really depends on where you are but here are a bunch of options, from waterfall repelling to a Chocolate tour.

    Conclusion

Spring is the perfect time to explore new destinations, and the top five places I’ve shared are all unique in their own way. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Washington, D.C. and Arizona in the spring, and both trips left me with unforgettable memories. From the cherry blossoms in D.C. to the sunny, desert landscapes of Arizona, these places are perfect for a spring getaway. As for my bucket list destinations—Destin, Amsterdam, and Costa Rica—I can’t wait to experience these beautiful spots one day. Whether you’re looking for vibrant city life, stunning nature, or a bit of both, these locations offer something for every traveler.
